We were joined at the recent OBA meeting by two members of the Scarecrow Festival committee. The festival will take place from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th July 2018 and all OBA members are cordially invited to get involved. The plan is for all of the high street businesses to display scarecrows (up to two weeks before the festival itself) and the Scarecrow Festival team are very happy to help, support or create scarecrows for those businesses. Do get in touch with Emma Scopes to find out more.
Over the Scarecrow Festival weekend, there will be many activities going on down at the Overton Recreation Centre and grounds, including dog agility competitions, ‘It’s a Knockout’ type games and Falconry displays, as well as live entertainment, stalls and refreshments being readily available. The Friday evening will see the annual Wheelbarrow Race return and there will also be a ‘Scarecrow Rocks’ music event on the Saturday evening.
The Scarecrow Festival committee would like OBA members to be involved, whether it is through sponsoring events, having a stall, donating prizes to a raffle or simply displaying a scarecrow and attending the event. If you have any ideas about what we could do as an association or if you would like to be involved to promote your business let us know.
