This week Overton is in the pantomime spirit…”oh yes, it is….oh no it isn’t it…etc, etc”!!!
Overton Dramatic Society are performing Jack and the Beanstalk to sell out audiences each night in St Mary’s Hall. The small amateur society are once again pushing the boundaries with pyrotechnics, professional standard lighting, a myriad of sound effects, complex moveable sets and stunning costumes.
The songs are fun and engaging, with a good mix of modern and classic to keep audiences of all ages enthralled. The script is quick-paced, exciting and laugh-out-loud funny.
Mark Winter, plays the Dame, with hilarious ad-libs and an audience participation number that will get everyone swaying in their seats. Jenna Clark-Williams, plays the mighty, thigh-slapping, Jack, who gets to climb (actually climb!) the beanstalk and meet the massive giant! All those playing principal roles are committed, energetic and entertaining. They are also supported by a fun and polished chorus, who dance beautifully in group numbers choreographed by Kali Dicks from Elibah Dance Academy.
Many OBA members have supported the pantomime by advertising in the programme, which is hugely appreciated by the society. The Artizans have also kindly sold the tickets this year. This has been a busy job considering the number of tickets sold and their support through social media advertising has contributed to this record-breaking number of sales.
The show runs until Saturday 2nd December – for anyone yet to see it, we are sure you won’t be disappointed!
